LIPA Reports 99% of Customers Are Restored

Yesterday afternoon, LIPA reported that 99% of customers who
were affected by Hurricane Sandy and were able to safely receive power back
have been restored.
However, there are still a reported 10,136 outages remaining across the island after super storm Sandy and the nor’easter that followed a week
later. LIPA is hoping to have everyone restored by today.
35,000 LIPA customers suffered flood damage from Sandy as
well. These customers will be unable to have their power restored until
electrical repairs are made on their property. Many of these customers are
located in the Rockaways area, which is powered by LIPA.
LIPA has also reported for the customers who need electrical
work, they've set up assistance centers to help with process.
