Where is the Summer Fun in Long Island?

Now that summer is fully here, kids are out of school, and the temperatures are looking to shine on the brighter side, let’s take a look at what is going on around Long Island for the summer of 2018.




Learn to Surf on Long Island -

Have you ever been interested in learning how to ride the waves and cruise with the ocean? Now is your chance. Get out there and grab a board. There are multiple places in LI to learn how to handle the waves. The name of the shops is Skudin Surf, Bunger Surf Shop, Island Surf School, Natures Shapes, SURFLUCA. Star Gazing -

Nothing like being outside during the summer night. Why not enjoy some stargazing while you’re out? Here are some observatories and parks that currently host stargazing spots. Star gazing gives people an opportunity to reflect and be contemplative about the beauty of nature and the many wonders and mysteries that our universe holds. Take relaxing night outside and enjoy your summer!

Skydiving -

Ever jumped out of a plane and had the ultimate rush from this activity? Now is your chance! Skydive with South Shore aka Skydive Long Island! You have the option to go tandem skydiving, learn from the best before you take to the skies on your own. You actually have to if you ever do want to go on your own. So learn from the best! Take a few lessons this summer and get this one checked off your bucket list already!

Berry Picking -

Ok, so maybe skydiving isn’t your scene, maybe surfing is too much for you, and maybe you’re not a night owl to go outside and see the stars late at night. Here is the pick for you! You can visit these select farms and hang around, take a stroll, and pick your own berries! Blueberries, Strawberries, and Raspberries! You can’t simply grab them from the bush, you will be instructed how to farm these berries properly.

Wally's Bagels of North Babylon -


In 1991 Mr. and Mrs. Wally opened up this business, even though they are not the current forefront owners, it still is run by the family. Bagel types they have are plain, everything, sesame, salt, whole wheat, egg onion, pumpernickel rye, and so on! Wally's also has an assortment of fresh pastries as well to combine with your breakfast.


You can get your breakfast sandwiches on bagels of course, but you also have the option of a roll or bread. Who are we kidding, get it on a bagel of course! Check out this breakfast sandwich from these guys.

Located in Mineola, this restaurant based off of Authentic Louisiana Southern BBQ. It has entrĂ©s such as smoked BBQ Rubs, BBQ pulled pork, chicken friend beefsteak. Local June Events in Long Island

If you would like to take some time outside or see something indoors, there are plenty of things to do around Long Island this summer. 

Here are some local up and coming events here around Long Island for the month of June!

Art Show, 17th Annual

Local artists will have their nautical pieces on display in the Keepers Quarters at the Lighthouse! Opening reception will be held on June 22nd through to July 16th, from 6pm and on. Learn more about this event by visiting here. 

Singin' In The Rain

This show has been extended through to July 8th! Experience the glamour of Hollywood's golden age with a performance of Singin' In The Rain! Check out more information here about show times. 

Cirque du Soleil VOLTA  

This option is on the pricier side and more of a nice date than family night, from May 17 - July 1st, catch the show of VOLTA. A story about the freedom to choose and the thrill of blazing your own trail. Adventurous spirits mix acrobats and action sports. Visit their page to learn more about this performance.

Stress Relief Saturday

June 30th, 3pm to 430pm, there will be a class at Connetquot Public Library. Join in for a session of relaxing music and motivational music. Refreshments will be served. Learn more here about this event.
