Enjoy The Outdoors

After the cold dark days of winter, many Long Islanders are antsy to get outdoors. Luckily, there are plenty of ways to get outside this season!

Outdoor Events

One of the best parts about Long Island is the way each community comes together. There is always a boatload of spring events throughout each county, town, and neighborhood to take part in. Check out this list to find the next nearest one to you!

Indoor Fun

It's no secret that the biggest downside to spring is all the rain that comes with the season. Still, there are many ways to make the most of each day that don't require being outdoors!
  • Museums: Take a trip to some of the island's most famous museums! It's the perfect way to let your little ones have fun while also learning about our history.
  • Aquariums: It doesn't get more exciting than an adventure with the fishes! Check out these aquariums across the island that are the perfect spots to wander and explore this spring.
  • Local Libraries: If you are a big bookworm, perhaps the perfect place to spend a rainy spring evening is at your local library!
  • Theaters: Both old-fashioned live theaters and movie theaters are great options for any rainy day blues. Escape into another world and turn it into a special day.

All in all, Long Island is full of things to do and places to visit. With everything from quaint beaches to large metropolitan areas, there's something for everyone here.

Last Minute Tax Day Checklist

Tax Day is the day that adds a lot of extra stress for everyone in America. For some, this can be a tedious and long process that takes up an entire weekend of work. Do you still have some things to take care of? Not to worry, we've got you covered. If you've procrastinated on gathering all of your tax documents together or filling out the necessary forms, this last-minute checklist will help prepare you for the big day!

Gather Your Tax Documents Together

Are all of your W2s, 1099s, and any other documentation and forms ready to go? Getting together any paperwork related to your taxes from the past year is important in getting through Tax Day. If this hasn't been done yet, right now is the time to do so.

Double Check Your Forms

You'll want to check your forms to ensure all the information is correct. It's essential to double-check that your name, address, and social security number are on each form. If any changes or corrections are needed after filling out a form, don't forget to fill them out before mailing it off or e-filing it!

Don't Hesitate To Get Help

If you need help, many resources are available, such as online tax preparation software and mobile apps that can make this process easier for you. In addition, most local libraries offer free assistance with filing taxes during tax season. If you still have questions about how to file your taxes or what deductions may be available to you, contact a certified public accountant to go over everything and make the process easier. There are many outlets for you to choose from!

Get It Done Now

Truthfully, this weekend is your last time to get everything done — so do just that! Take the tips above and keep your paperwork organized and your mind clear. However, there's still time to get a deduction on your property taxes!

With the Nassau County deadline being May 2nd, 2022, and the Suffolk County deadline being May 17th, 2022, you still have time to apply for a property tax grievance! P.T.R.C., Inc. is recognized as fair and honest. Our clients benefit directly from the close working relationships we have established with the assessing units throughout the years.

Spring 2022 Home Projects

Spring is here, and it's time to make your home a little more beautiful. Whether you're looking for a change in décor or a new addition to your living space, there's something for everyone! There are various ways to brighten your humble abode with a few quick projects that will take little time or money but can make a big difference in how your house feels. Here are some ways for you to get started on making this season of renewal in your life even better:

New Furniture

From making small changes like updating throw pillows or rugs to a complete overhaul of all the furniture in your living room, give some rooms in your home a fresh look with new furniture that matches the current style of your house.

Pick out something that matches both function and design; it doesn't have to be an all-new overhaul! Just make sure that the new piece speaks to you and is something that you look forward to having throughout the spring and summer seasons!

Consider Repainting

When was the last time you painted the interior walls of your home? From something as simple as a bedroom to a bigger project like your living room, giving your walls a fresh, clean paint job is a great project to take on this season. It'll be nice enough outside to open the windows to let natural light help you as you paint and allow the spring breeze to dry things off faster.

Outdoor Fun

Spring is such an exciting season to get projects done outside. It's not too hot or too cold — perfect for taking on some big outdoor tasks. There are plenty of DIY projects like planting flowers or building a garden shed! These recreational activities are also a great way to increase your curb appeal this year.

Also, you can take on essential issues like washing down the outside walls with a power washer. This will help remove any dirt or mold accumulated over the winter months and make it look fresh again.

And while you're busy getting your home ready for spring, we're getting ready to help homeowners like you get their property taxes lowered this year. Ready to join them to check one more thing off your home projects list?
