What To Plant In Your Garden In Summer

If you have always wanted to start planting more fruits and vegetables in your garden, but you’re not sure where to start, we’re here to help! In summer, these fresh foods will be a great addition to your home and garden and can last into autumn as well.

Fruit:

  • Blackberries and raspberries: Berries are quite easy to grow, and they survive rather very well in warmer seasons! They just need a good amount of sun and water and should be planted at least 2 to 3 feet apart for best results.
  • Blueberries: While a part of the berry family, blueberry bushes are smaller and require a little extra love. They love the sun and moist, well-drained soil.
  • Apples: You can find apple trees in many different sizes, so you can choose one that fits your yard perfectly! Not only do they do well in summer, but they also can last into fall and provide you with fresh apples for multiple months.
  • Tomatoes: Nothing goes better with a summer salad than fresh tomatoes. You can place these seeds into a deep container, or keep them in their own section of the garden.

Vegetables:

  • Cucumber: The most well-known summer vegetable would have to be cucumbers! They grow fast and can be found in vining or bush form. Plant the seeds at least 2 inches apart and watch the magic happen.
  • String beans: This nutritious and delicious treat is easy to grow and easy to maintain. They only need regular watering and warm soil in order to flourish.
  • Peppers: Not only would fresh peppers be perfect for cooking, but they also add a nice pop of color to your garden. They just need full sunlight and consistent watering!

Start your summer garden now and begin adding fresh fruits and vegetables to your meals! You won’t regret it.

4 Helpful Tips For Organizing Your Taxes

When it comes to your taxes, it pays to keep everything organized. With the right preparations, you can have your papers ready, and reduce the chance of the process being overwhelming when tax day comes. Here are a few organization tips that will help you keep track of everything you’ll need this upcoming tax day.

Set Up Filing System

Often, your important documents can get thrown aside along with junk mail and other unimportant letters. Start creating a personalized filing system now so that you can access your records quickly and easily. Take time to utilize Post-it notes, folders, or computer space to keep everything together!

Group Things Together

Sometimes there are so many different papers and documents to go through that even a filing system won’t help. And when it comes to your tax returns, you should keep your records 3 years from the original date you filed for the first return. It’s a smart idea to keep your receipts together, income statements and documents together, and return papers together. This way you know exactly where to search when looking for them.

Consider Online Filing

If the traditional filing system doesn’t work for you, there are plenty of online resources you can utilize in your quest for organization. There are many companies that offer personalized software packages and live personal help, just make sure to do some research to see which one suits you the best.

Hire An Accountant

There’s nothing wrong with getting a little bit of help when you need it. Accountants are here to make your life easier! You can go over all your documents with them and they’ll certainly make sure everything is in place for when tax day arrives.

How To Make Your Home Feel Like A Vacation

Your home is supposed to be a place where you can relax and refresh. However, with most of us spending a lot more time at home, it can be hard to find a way to recharge. If you’re itching for a getaway, but boarding a plane isn't in your near plans, maybe it’s about time to start planning for your perfect vacation...at home! Your staycation awaits.

Establish Your Relaxing Zones

It’s important to separate your entertainment zones from your relaxing zones. This way, you’ll actually be able to relax when you want to. Turn your bathroom into a mini spa just for yourself, or create the perfect romantic dinner for two in your kitchen one night.

Move Furniture Around

When you’re on vacation you’re in a brand new environment. Give your home a “mini makeover” by moving some furniture around to create the illusion of a new place! You never know, you might even fall in love with your new layout.

Spend More Time Outside

Your back and front yards can become your best friends during a staycation. Consider eating and relaxing on your patio or lawn more on nicer days. The more you soak in the sun, the more it will feel like a vacation!

Get Inspo From Your Favorite Vacation Spot

Unfortunately, you can’t go to your favorite vacay paradise right now. However, you can still bring it to you! If you love the beach, you can add some cute beachy decorations throughout your home. If you have a favorite city, you can hang up some beautiful photos you have of that place.

Five Handmade Father’s Day Gift Ideas

With Father’s Day coming up, it’s important to start thinking about that perfect present for dad. While he’ll surely adore any gift, it’s the ones that are handmade and from the heart that he'll keep and cherish. Here are some DIY crafts to consider making for dad to show your appreciation for him:

1. Personalized Spatula

Nothing says Father’s Day more than a gift dad can barbecue with! All you have to do is design something special along with the wooden handle of the spatula. That way every time dad starts to grill up some burgers and hotdogs, he can be reminded of you.

2. Beer Bouquet

A twist on the classic 6-pack gift. Dress each bottle with a paper flower and place it into a gift bag before giving to dad! Add some green paper leaves and go crazy creating the illusion of a real bouquet of flowers. If dad isn't a beer fan, you can do the same with anyone of his favorite canned or bottled drinks.

3. Homemade Cards

You can never go wrong with making your own homemade card for dad. There are no limits when it comes to this project! You can personalize this with your own handwritten words for dad, letting him know how much you love and appreciate him.

4. DIY Neck Tie

It may sound like a complicated project, but it’s actually easier than you would think. If you have some extra fabric lying around your home, consider taking on this DIY to make dad a personalized tie for (maybe) any occasion! Follow this guide for further instructions.

5 Mustache Mug

Bring some character and life into dad’s boring, plain mugs this Father’s Day! All you need is a blank mug, sharpie, porcelain paint pen, and a mustache stencil. It’s a funny gift that he will surely want to drink his coffee from every morning.
