Long Island Food Festivals


Calling all foodies! Food Festival Season is upon us. From now through the fall, take your pick of one of the many local food festivals:

Harbes Family Farm Festivals

Harbes Family Farm hosts six “produce” festivals annually, each with their own eating contest, live music, games, and more. The produce is locally grown at one of Harbes’ three farms in Mattituck, Jamesport, or Riverhead. Each festival is free and is located at their Mattituck location (715 Sound Ave., Mattituck).

  • Tomato Festival: August 3rd and 4th 
  • Watermelon Festival: August 10th and 11th
  • Peach Festival: August 24th and 25
  • Apple Festival: September 14th and 15th
  • Pumpkin Festival: September 28th and 29th


Baconfest

What’s better than an event that celebrates all things bacon? Head to Plattduetsche Biergarten for food, drinks, desserts, live music and more. The event will run August 23rd and 24th.

Seafood Festival

Enjoy delicious seafood while taking in the waterfront grounds of the Long Island Maritime Museum! This event will take place on August 24th and 25th from 11 AM to 6 PM, and will include local seafood, live music, and arts and crafts for the kids. Admission is $10; children under 12 are free.

Long Island Garlic Festival

Remember to bring a mint, or two! Come for the widest variety of garlic-inspired foods, crafts, live music, a garlic-eating contest, and an “Iron Chef”style garlic competition. Head to the Garden of Eve Organic Farm & Market in Riverhead on September 14th and 15th from 10 AM to 6 PM to take part in all of the garlic fun! Tickets are $10; children under 2 are free.

Pickle Festival

Pickle lovers rejoice! The Annual Pickle Festival hosted by the Greenlawn-Centerport Historical Association will be on September 21st from 10 AM to 5 PM at the John Gardiner Farm. The event will feature specialty pickles, among other foods, drinks, train rides, hayrides, a corn maze, and more. Admission is a $5 donation, giving you access to the hayride and the corn maze; children under 12 free.

Famous Food Festival

Dates: August 17th & 18th and October 12th &13th
Eat around the world without having to leave the Island! Tanger Outlets is hosting more than 60 vendors at their Famous Food Festival, featuring food such as lobster tacos, mac and cheese, and a butterfly garden for the kids.

Chase the Sunday scaries away with a drink at this iconic Long Island spot. Located on Reynold's Channel in Point Lookout, walk or bike to The Buoy Bar for waterfront dining, drinks, and excellent views from their outdoor deck. With direct access to the water, this spot is kid-friendly for some sand castle building.

Take the Kids to Adventureland
If you’re longing for a fun day of rides and games, Adventureland is the place for you! From water rides and rollercoasters to bumper cars and carnival games, you’ll be laughing the day away while spending quality time as a family -- win, win!

Put on your Sunday best and head out to brunch with your friends! There are plenty of locations across the island that offer a special brunch menu, outdoor scenery, and live entertainment. Go out early in the day and spend the rest of your Sunday relaxing.
