Today’s show begins at 11:00 a.m. and ends at 10:00 p.m.! The Home Show will also be running on Saturday, October 27^th, from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. and Sunday, October 28^th, from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.!

Law Passed in Islip To Exceed Tax Cap

Earlier last week, the Islip Town Board paved the way for a massive property rate tax hike, voting unanimously to shatter the state-mandated tax cap amid fierce opposition from town residents.

After a long public hearing at Town Hall, the board passed the law. The 2% tax cap which is state-mandated requires local governments seeking to exceed it to pass a law authorizing the move. Last month a $118 million proposed budget was introduced that calls for 65% increase in town residential property taxes, which is 4% of residents total tax bill.

The proposed budget which calls for a 65% increase in property tax has stirred up much controversy in the community. Some residents are outraged by it, while others think it is necessary in order to maintain the town’s amenities.

This weekend, come down to the Long Island Fall Festival at Heckscher Park in Huntington, the largest of its kind in the Northeast! This festival has become the premiere event for family fun, and PTRC will be joining in on the fun this weekend! 

From homemade craft vendors to retail and business booths, non-profits and village merchants to carnival rides and delicious food vendors, this festival is one you don't want to miss! This weekends lineup of entertainment on two different stages include Battle of the Bands performances; Eden Grinshpan, from the Cooking Channel's Eden Eats, autograph signing; local youth talent; performances from Vista Hill, Earl Green, Hyndsight, Bill Scorzari, Bitter End, Bon Journey, Blue Sky Reign Band, Youth be Told, Modern Justice, Beginnings, Almost Queen, Michael Guido's Tribute to the Allman Brothers, Thompson Gunners, Smokin' Aces, and more! 

The festival, including carnival rides, food court and music, starts tonight, Friday, October 5th at 3pm and closes at 10pm. Tomorrow and Sunday, join the town of Huntington with vendors, contests, music and shows, food court and carnival rides. The festivities continue on Monday from 11am through 5pm, with carnival rides and food court vendors.
