After Hurricane Sandy occurred, there were many speculations
that price gouging was occurring at several gas stations in New Jersey and New
York. The gas crisis that arose after the storm created much havoc at gas
stations.
On Long Island, four stations were accused yesterday by the
state attorney general for charging as much as $9 per gallon for regular
gasoline after superstorm Sandy swept the East Coast.
The stations charged were as follows:
- Shell – 408 Rockaway Tpke, Cedarhurst - $5.05 per gallon
- Express Mart/Babylon Gas Station – 1000 Rte. 109, Lindenhurst - $4.99 per gallon
- USA Petroleum – 11 E. Main Street, East Islip - $6.75 per gallon
- USA Petroleum – 2664 Rte. 112, Medford - $9.00 per gallon
